For what its worth...

I use Fidelity for my backup system for trading....and I feel they are very good, quick, and timely with trades and confirmations. The times I have had to speak with a rep were pleasant too. Fidelity charges a bit more...but well worth it compared to my experiences with Ameritrade before. You get what you pay for, I guess.

Capt. Ed, that's totally bogus. Its just about the worst screwing by a discount broker that I have ever heard of (and I have heard of plenty, trading actively for several years through 3 online brokers).
If it involves a significant amount of money and its worth your trouble, I'd file for NASD arbitration. If its greater than $10,000, I'd file a lawsuit in your state court system, although the broker has a right to remove the case to the federal courts. Given the circumstances, I don't think you will end up litigating for long, it sounds like a case that would be settled fairly quickly.

Captain Ed -- as I suggested to someone last nite, everyone with broker complaints, after resolving it with their broker and taking whatever action they are going to take, should post to Gomez -- the guy who rates all these discouraging brokers. www.gomez.com.

Prosperous Trading!
