The upgraded mobile phone service, using the so-called W-CDMA technology, offers a far larger transmission throughput than conventional services, realizing a better sound quality and enabling transmission of television-quality images... " ATI has a reputation as being run by the smartest people in the business. If they're moving into W-CDMA, they must've gotten the word that it's not "vaporwear" or a legal non-starter; quite the reverse. What does this mean to QCOM? IS-95B? CDMA 2000? or the air interface of wireless for ATI, PCS, BAM etc in the USA???
