Finally, a voice of reason.

I, too, quit using datek after a string of loosing trades due to poor representation or no fills on limit orders placed at the market.

It has been about 18 months since I stopped using datek and since then I have more than doubled my money by using a broker who fills my orders between the spread. I pay $5.00 more per trade than I did at datek, but I've made literally thousands of dollars because of the superior fills I receive.

Those of you who think your saving money by using Datek need to re-evaluate based on the trading you do. If you place a lot of market orders and place 10 or more trades a day - Datek is probably a good broker for you. However, if you place limit order datek will not fill it unless they can get between you and the buyer/seller.

My orders are routinely filled at better prices than my limit order at my current broker. Datek does the same thing only they keep the difference for themselves.
