Finally, some very good questions (Elroy) and answers (DavidCG) on this thread.

Some observations:
I have compared many of COOL's prices to Buy.com and not once did COOL have a better price (even with the free shipping on some items).
If i were betting, i like the way that buy.com is going out and buying customers with low prices and linking to sites on the internet that drive buyers to the site. Unfortunately, buy.com is not a public company that we can all speculate on.

I'm not on AOL but if that link exclusively drives customers to COOL then that is a great great mkting tool.

This internet craze is about finding the next wal-mart. All the bets are speculative. This is a super crowded field. Go to Computers.com and research any computer item, check prices and you'll get about 15 companies that you can purchase from.

COOL is pure speculation as are many of the other internets.

I would be turned off by the ads as i heard them described here. TV advertising is not a sustainable strategy to buying customers until more people are willing to shop online. Currently only 7% of people are willing to shop on-line - up from last year's 4%.
