All / Fallout from low prices last time?

The article Kerm referenced at the Korner sure sounds like it could have been written in 1986, doesn't it? The Saudis opened the taps then in response to widespread cheating on quotas -- showing who was the boss. Does anyone recall how the situation resolved that time? Did Mexico or Venezuela cry 'uncle'? Or did the Saudis hurt themselves worse? I know the world is quite different 12 years later, but there might be hints from the past.
