Re: "This is true for those companies that want to purchase/partner for the .18um technology. Intel will develop their own .18um process ... and ... Intel has a very good baseline (.25um) to start from. AMD on the other hand will be purchasing/partnering for some or all of their .18um technology."

Once again you're making no sense. This is NOT a conclusion you can necessarily draw. If AMD is just buying a process from MOT or IBM, and that process is a good one, then it may be that Intel will have a harder time getting to .18u. It's easier to go out and buy a calculator than to develop the technology and build one for yourself. So, in this case, you can argue it either way. The fact that you're willing to make an absolute statement indicates to me that you are biased to the point of irrationality.

Dr. Yousef,
Re."This is true for those companies that want to purchase/partner for ....."

I agree with you that AMD had (and I mean HAD) a poor record of bringing new product and adapting new processes. But, since 6/98 AMD has been able to deliver and this is important. You might argue that they are all versions of .25um process and there is no correlation to the more aggressive .18um. Then, partnership is a way out for the AMD.
Don't you agree?
