Hi Chuzzlewit, re:<<In science there is a maxim that says that a hypothesis can only be taken seriously if it is falsifiable -- that is, if it can be shown to be false by the failure to achieve certain predicted outcomes.>> Are you referring to the "alpha" and "beta" risks?

Thanks,

Stock Bull

Hi Chuzz.
Why is Dell up?? Why, why?? Why can't this behave as a normal stock. The Dow is down 144. This is so confusing, think I'll have some soup- Campbell bean with bacon, sounds OK. A few saltines...

I think you may be looking at posts by BONEHEADS like LT who claim to be TA's and making your judgement based on them. But to each his own. I for one believe in combination of FA and TA. Having said that I should point out that the TA I use said sell DELL if it broke 61. So, being diciplined in TA I did just that at 65 today because the RS is weak. I guess over the next few weeks we will see if that was stupid. I looks that way now but nothing can predict day to day action. Looking for re-entry @ 57-59.

Love DELL and good luck to all longs! :-)

In science there is a maxim that says that a hypothesis can only be taken seriously if it is falsifiable -- that is, if it can be shown to be false by the failure to achieve certain predicted outcomes. Judging by the behavior of of TA devotees it would seem that TA is not falsifiable, and therefore must take its place as one of the religions of the stock market.

So true. In other words, in science an hypothesis can rarely proven to be true. You can only prove it to be false and then consider it not longer valid.

But if it's a science, should we be judging the viability by the behavior of TA devotees? TA has failed to achieve certain predicted outcomes repeatedly. TA is trumped by FA and now global economic conditions so when we discuss the attributes of TA, shouldn't we set clear conditions or assumptions?

Just curious,
