Dave:

I am surprised at this memo. I thought you were the long term TLAB bull! I am willing to wait this period out. I have been in TLAB for over 4 years and have found it to be like many growth stocks--long periods of sideways movement interrupted by dramatic moves up or down. In fact (being a biologist) I have likened this to how organisms undergo evolution (puncuated equilibrium). Let's don't start an evolution discussion that is just my analogy. I am still stunned by your comments.

Geez, Dave, have you forgotten to take your vitamins lately??

The only thing that prevented TLAB from being a +50% stock this year
(and the year's not over yet ;-) is the failed CIENA deal. You're
the one who always likes to talk fundamentals, and there is absolutely
no problem with the fundamentals here (sales on track to be up 35%,
profits on track to be up 45% year to year) and analysts expectations
for next year indicate more of the same. The market got scared with
the CIENA deal, and it takes time for everyone to stop holding their
breath and come out of hiding. Just be patient. The deals and
products will be announced when the time is right.

Dave:
This stock seems to make some 3 or 4 point moves everyday.
Have you tried daytrading it? Anyone else on the thread see
such opportunity ? Daytraders, I would like some input about
daily swingers like TLAB. UIS is another candidate.

From the article:

NEW YORK, Dec 4 (Reuters) - Shares of telecommunications equipment maker Lucent Technologies Inc. (NYSE:LU - news) and technology stocks rose on Friday after the companies this week gave upbeat presentations at an investor conference, analysts and traders said.

''It seems Lucent had some very positive comments at an investment conference in Arizona....Tellabs also made some positive comments as well and they appear to be finally participating (in the rally too),'' said Steve Levy, a telecommunications equipment analyst with Lehman Brothers...

Tellabs said it did not make any new announcements but analysts said their presentation was upbeat. Shares of Tellabs gained 1-1/16 to 57-13/16 on Friday.

Upcoming TLAB Product...

TLAB NID (Network Interface Device) for cable telephony over HFC

Dave -

I found this while surfin' - with all the buzz cable's been getting, and will get next year, this could be a winner for TLAB.

<<Tellabs, for instance, plans to introduce a four-line unit
[NID - Steve] in January that can be upgraded to an eight- or 12-line unit.>>
