Shinko WOW process looks like a promising technology for cutting down production cost. Usually the chips has to be cut from the wafer before backend process like testing takes place. This require machinery to handle individual chip. The process is slow and cost high. WOW makes it possible to test them altogether while the chips are still on the wafer. Handling of wafer which has LOTS of chips on it will cut down the cost dramatically. Currently it is designed for RDRAM and SDRAM!

The other article shows that Rambus knows the problem that we have discussed and actively working on them.
