Kim,
Obviously it costs money to file patents and protect them, but the filing part is at least already part of the company's current cost structure. There is always a question of balance here --- many ideas/inventions are not filed on for this reason and instead remain proprietary knowledge, completely hidden. We rely on the people at Mvis to make these kinds of decisions, and we certainly have to trust that Casey Tegreene, in particular, has a very good understanding of the strategy required to build an effective IP portfolio, because he has the point in this area. I am confident he knows what he is doing and that the value of the IP being created is very significant. And largely unrecognized by investors. The company's IP will ultimately, I believe, give more than a few other companies a real headache --- and some of those companies will be in fields totally unrelated to VRD.
