No idea. The only news I read is their thin client announcement w/ Wyse. But I thought they had that relation /w Wyse (using MediaGX) a long time now. Do you think the stock has been badly beaten down and starting to recover to more normal levels?

Good move picking up some NSM at the open.

From Chiptech:

chiptech.com

"I think this may rate a "holy crap!". Rune Frandsen sent me a link to this Alpha Processor site. Now, I remember that there's a split of opinion on whether or not you'll be able to use the Alpha to upgrade on a K7 board. Well, this link seems to more or less explicitly say that the 21264 supports K7 chipsets and will indeed be interchangeable with the K7 on Slot-A boards. Of course, there's still a matter of having to make major software modifications (eg..21264 don't do Win98), but it's nice to have some reassurance that K7 buyers might in the future opt to upgrade to the Alpha 21264 without having to to buy new hardware. "

Also:

"CNET Taiwan announced that VIA will be releasing their K7 chipset around March or April of 1999, and ALi will follow up on that by mid-'99."

Fits with what we heard about AMD using Alpha boards for their testing.

Everything falling into place: within one speed grade of Intel, faster clock for clock, with a better roadmap. No wonder the stock is up!
