Oops...I can see the reason for your confusion. It was a full gap down.

Full takes out yesterday's low, modified is lower than the close.

I apologize for making things harder to understand than they are already.

Full and modified gaps

Full gap up is one that above yesterdays high
Partial Gap is above yesterday's close but not yesterdays high
Converse for Full and Partial Downs.

A Modified Gap Play is to use as the threshold the average of the open and high (or open and low on a down gap)
