Thanks Richard and Cheeky. I've decided to follow both of your suggestions. I will purchase that Firmware ISA card and give it and my CPU to the kids. I will then go out and purchase the latest bomb.

The next time there are thunderstorms in your area, I would recommend you shut down your computer, unplug it from the wall, unplug your modem and wait until the weather has passed before you start up your computer again. If by chance, lightning should strike in your vicinity, you can rest assure that all the protective devices you own will not protect your computer from over 45,000 volts of electric power. Might be an inconvenience, but could protect your computer from frying.
