To All; I have a question for the more technical oriented that hang out on this thread. I follow the disk drive stocks and also removable storage. IOM has tremendous competition in the removable storage area with Imation's LS-120 and Sony's new HiFD. Both of which promote backward compatability with 1.44MB floppies. IOM, is of course, not backward compatible. I don't really know how I feel about the value of the backward compatibilty issue.

What I was wondering last night, was if these drives are "backward compatible" are the also "cross compatible' with each other. I don't think it would be wise for a consumer to try to find this out by trial and error. I have no idea the effect on the market if this is the case. I would think it would tend to hurt Sony's more expensive drive.

Just curious,
