Dell's PERC (PowerEdge Expandable RAID Controller) is made by Adaptec after all. About six weeks ago I asked here and on the Dell thread for information about the maker of PERC for Dell. One answer was American Megatrends. But it appears that where SCSI and RAID controllers are concerned, Adaptec is Dell's supplier for the PowerEdge line of servers. I found the following note in Information Week for 7 Dec:

"Dell does lean heavily on equipment makers as partners. . . The PowerEdge Expandable RAID Controller (Perc 2) is made by Adaptec Corp."

techweb.com

Adaptec's partnership with Dell has not been major news, except for the announcement of their joint effort with a 64-bit RAID development project. But it has been a subject of rumors and discussion on several threads. I believe this association with Dell will have a good effect on earnings.
