You're right, discover's service sucks. I opened an account with MBT a couple months ago and, I guess, I'll have to move the rest of my capital there.

if this is not settled fairly i will then contact nasd and be gone from discover in a heartbeat.

Why wait?

I sympathize, Wally. It seems that the level of complaints against ALL the online brokers is skyrocketing. The real test seems to be who will answer the phones soonest, and the criterion is anything less than half an hour is fast. Getting ANY of them to do anything except talk in calm and soothing tones appears to be out of the question.

A few weeks ago I was talking with a techie from Fido. We got to talking about Y2K, and what the market was going to do about it. I was under the impression (from CNBC reports) that both the NYSE and Nasdaq had done their Y2K tests and had passed with flying colors. The techie said that more and more complete tests were scheduled, and that they were not going to publicize them in case any problems discovered might cause lack of faith in the system(s).

Hmmmm. I wonder if all this is coincidence, or if there might be a connection? I dunno. Anyone have any additional info to confirm or deny this self-generated rumor?
