Interesting comment. You might be right...but here's two other thoughts I've heard from others:

One is that CSCO would welcome the acquisition since the assimilation could slow them both down. My view is that although this could be the case in the short term, long term ASND/LU would be VERY powerful and can believe that CSCO would look forward to competing against the combination. Some have said that great ASND employees would leave if LU bought them, but would they leave for CSCO??? Perhaps some would but I'm not sure the numbers would be significant.

Second school of thought I've heard is that CSCO would buy ASND to take them out of play. Although there is merit to this as well I'm not sure CSCO is willing to pony up the $15B+ Mory would need. However, the choice between competing with LU/ASND versus the cost of buying ASND....which would you choose? It's a good question I think....

One last observation...LU is on a roll these days. Given pooling of interests they have a much better leverage position these days...so, could something be up?
