My understanding of the savings figures [going negative] is that some caution should be used when throwing around the notion that people are spending more than the are earning. What was characterized as savings in that report? I don't think those figures considered any 401K money savings; which seems absurd on the face of it. So running out of savings in light of that definition won't necessarily have any affect on stock purchases. Until of course the economy turns down, unemployment rises, 401K contributions fall off and the real ass kicker consumer debt [[the 90's version of 90% margin]flattens lots of folk.
