Of course, since this information is readily available on the Internet, I thought you would have found it...

LOCATION:
This subdivision is located 13 1/2 miles on the Northern Highway, some 100 yards on the Western side of the Burrell Boom access road. All roads leading from Belize City and the International Airport are paved highways. Driving at moderate speed (and certainly within that which the Law permits) one would be a scant 20 minutes away from Belize City, and 7 minutes from the PSW Goldson International Airport.
The land is not only of the quality that will facilitate construction without the use of piles, but it is sufficiently above sea level (15 to 35 feet) to render the area devoid of natural flooding and the high tides associated with hurricanes.

I thought we would be further along on the house building in Belize. I was very disappointed that we weren't. I also know that things very seldom happen on MY schedule. I also don't believe that they are being built on swamp land. To many people not connected with the company have been there and reported on the home sites.
I have also heard about "sinking homes fiasco"
Well if I was going to retire in Belize I would not want to be living that close to all the tourists and hussle and bussel. Not to mention the cost of living that close to prime real estate. Now if I was going there for a vacation that would be another story.
beside I have been through two hurricanes in my younger days and beach front property is not where I would ever choose to live. I want at least 5-10 miles between me and the sea.

jhild,

I am an pragmatic optimist. You (IMHO) are a pessimist mixed in with a little euphoric melancholy; courageously, but safely removed judge.

Referring to your last sentence:

"Really and truly, what retirees are really going to want to move there? So far away from real scenic beauty of Belize that you see in all the pictures."
__________

This is typical of your outlook on life. You are seeing Their story through Their eyes but with Your heart or attitude.

How about if we look at the Belize Homes another way.
This housing program was meant primarily for Belizeans working in foreign countries that want to come home to retire. Come Home. Home. And affordable, with mortgages available. A Can Do, Want To Do offer! This was not available before. The school teacher & daughter did not want to retire in Los Angeles, California with its god awful smog, high crime, millions of people, cement, cars, etc.

Perhaps they cannot afford a setup like William H. but they sure would like to retire at 'home'.

In other words, I see the same scenario that you do but I sure feel differently about it, and in the end the company either gets customers or they don't.

Roger

jhild,

My earlier comments about your personality (post 19852) in the first paragraph are inappropriate. I apologize. I will stay with the issues next time.
