That was a good contrary post. Thanks.

I am not going to run for cover, however. I still have to believe that Daimler et. al. has not taken an uninformed, pie-in-the-sky approach to their partnerships. A poor showing in an early prototype is hardly a reason to dump. Trials are designed to find flaws. Even if it weren't a trial, and even if the bus had blown up I wouldn't run. (E.g.; if you follow satellite stocks, I was delighted to invest in Loral, AFTER their rocket went BOOM and the stock was inordinately punished.)

When I learn that the technology is misguided, or that another leader has emerged, WATCH ME RUN THEN.

(Meanwhile, for technical reasons I have purchased puts on the stock. A little insurance never hurts.) :-)

Sid, you said it right, << "I would say that someone not caught up in the Ballard cult might conclude that, notwithstanding the company's tremendous prowess at doing big deals at the corporate level, that PEM fuel cell technology is proving to be less robust than promised, and that Ballard's lead, if it even exists, is much less than people think.">>

I am not caught up at all in the Ballard mystique, and I believe that DCH Technology, symbol DCHT, is going to be the leader in the PEM Fuel Cell.

With Allied Signal as their partner I see a formidable challenge to Ballards alleged prowess.

From the DCH website, "AlliedSignal - DCH is providing the Hand Held Unit based on the Robust Hydrogen Sensor in support of the development of an advanced fuel cell, which represents a large potential business area." dch-technology.com
