Ish, it's simply because it's the only way deeply intellectual liberals debate. Resorting to calling people fat like a bunch of 5th grade playground kids is about all they are capable of offering people. The main ideological program they have to offer America can be summed up in one word. "Fear". :-) "All we have to offer is fear itself" Fear of Rush, fear of Ken Starr, fear of the religios right, fear of starving the elderly, starving children, loss of welfare, loss of health care, and loss of social security. Oh, and we can never forget the ultimate fear...Mr Newt! It's a tired old playbook if you ask me, but with the help of the willing liberal press and those who lap up 6.7 second sound bites as if they are gospel facts. It appears to be working.
