Hi FMK, that one looks like a Trojan horse. Actually, shorts should be able to make a few bucks over the next few weeks if the market weakness continues. The advance-decline ratio has been terrible during this "recovery". Shorts could clip a few points off the large caps, at least down to the 8800 level. One TA site predicts a positive phase resuming mid Jan. 99. IMO shorting Valence is pretty risky irrespective of market action.

$3.25 ----to---- $9.75

VLNC has moved up remarkably over the past few weeks and most people (shorts) continue to banter on about how bad this stock is and that it will be $3 very soon. Well, we're all entitled to our opinion, but I must say that after a triple in just a few weeks, VLNC is almost certain to give back a few cents/bucks. In fact, technically, as JC has been commenting on, the backing and filling is very bullish! When VLNC does take-off (as if going from $3 to $9 isn't taking off), it gives it much more support in the high single digits rather than in the low singles.

Speculation, rumor, false truths - let people say what they will. However, if you believe that the following developments are worthwhile, then buy and hold and find out Wolanchuck's address to send him a Christmas card:
1) New Director appointed (no small fry in Bert Roberts);
2) Alliant Tech Systems manufacturing line with VLNC is ISO certified;
3) Hanil-Valence appears set to manufacture millions of cells early/mid next year;
4) Delphi alliance;
5) Everready alliance;
6) Major, major insider buys (and no current employee insider sales since the buys back in the $3s and $4s)!
7) Technicals are as strong as ever!

Say what you may, but I'm holding on until at least the $20s!

Remember the "Roger's Short Picks"? A small time trader rumored that Bill Fleckenstein recommended shorting VLNC and Oracle. Well, Oracle just beat estimates and is up in after hours trading. Go Valence!
