Les,

You mean Espy sold out the children for a few measly football tickets? What a jerk!

Perhaps Smaltz should have made that case, Les?

Ted Wells, one of Espy's lawyers, sought to demolish Smaltz's case during closing argument to the jury that the prosecution presented no witnesses who testified his client ever made a decision based on anything he ever received.

Were the jurors and Wells asleep turning that part of the trial, Les? Could be, I certainly didn't follow the case. The prosecutor's got to present the evidence and prove guilt, is my understanding.

Les,

Good post. It is also interesting that
Independent Council Donald Smaltz started
getting death threats at the point in the
investigation where he found the Tyson
Foods-Espy connection. Donald Smaltz also
found a former employee (an aircraft pilot)
who said he used to deliver envelopes full
of cash to Bill Clinton in person. When
Donald Smaltz refered this evidence to the
Justice Department, Janet Reno ordered the
DOJ investigators not to look into it. This
pilot would sure make an interesting witness
in front of the House Judiciary Committee.
