Chucky - Re: eBay and the future of auctions ...

Thanks for the thoughtful comment. But, you know, I think too much is made of the commission (peanuts) money. (Maybe because all of us here, by definition, are obsessed with it!). This is not a profound thought, but I just have a feeling that eBay users just kind of like the whole feel of the set-up. About buyers and sellers bypassing eBay in the future, I have had a couple of sellers tell me that If I was searching for other similar items, to let them know and they would put them up for auction. Not much of a sample, but it confirms my gut feeling. In the categories I search for on eBay, some items sell at an extraordinary price premium -- and I think sellers see this and would not want to chance a one-on-one transaction just to save the small commission. We're all guessing at the future. As far as OnSale goes, I think everything is riding on the industrial and business-to-business segment. I have to admit I'm nervous about whether this will become a big thing or not, but I'm sticking with them in hopes that it will.

Best of luck.
