Hi. New heaters are now built to be used in doors with a window open a crack. The new Canadian regulations require that the flame burn at a height that produces minimal CO and smell. Also the new K1 kerosene is cleaner burning than the old stuff. So with the cleaner fuel and the set burner height and the window open a crack they are supposed to be OK.

I'm just a buyer and telling you what I have learned. They all come with thick instruction books. Don't know about the US heaters or those sold elsewhere.
