Jim , <initial poor yields>
That is what Intel investors are hoping . They assume that the competition never learns from the problems .
The opposite is true .
My sources inform me that yields are much better than they were on .25
We have proof that of AMD's learning curve from the difference in yield and speed ramp of the .25 over the .35 .
The "expert" analysts at the beginning of the year were saying that AMD would have more trouble with the .25 process because it was more difficult . Are these same "experts" , now ready to admit that they were wrong ,

Jim:

<<Word from the Intel thread is that the Katmai will be available to OEMs on January 3. At least for evaluation so they can start integrating them into systems for the February 28 launch.>>

And DirectX 7.0 won't be out till end of July. Why waste $500+ extra for a CPU and not having any performance improvement till 5 months later? By July Katmai 450MHz be selling for $100.

Jim, re:AMD's initial yields on K7. The initial yield will be 1%, but as soon as Ashok Kumar announces the 1% yield, the yield will be 50%. Clearly, its in AMD's best interest to invite him to Dresden immediately.
