Katmai instructions reek of "MMX" to me...so they add a little cache and jack up the speed a little and try to make everyone believe they need "MMX2"...worked before...might work again, but I won't buy it.
Basically just comes down to MHz. Katmai at Pentium II clockspeeds won't sell, on higher clockspeeds it will sell...
I expect a K6-2-450 and K6-3 announcement right at the turn of the new year.
BTW, AMD has said the K6-3 will compete against Katmai...not necessary the K7.

Hmmm, Intelafoons are bragging about Katmai samples going out in January, but read this about K7 samples in DECEMBER!

98/12/06, 10:46pm - Hmmm...is there a chance that the K7 may indeed come in a little earlier than expected? KH brings in an impressive news link from EE Times Taiwan: "AMD will start shipping K7 and their mobo samples out to Taiwanese mobo makers before the end of the month/year". Ooh!
