Thanks for sharing your thoughts, I agree with what you said. It is for this reason that I think a dialogue about differing opinions can be useful - because it can help both parties to remove distorting influences from their thought processes. Of course, dialogue doesn't always work out that way, but I think it's at least worth a try.

"If we are fooled and then base our whole life on that foolery, then we should be pitied. No doubt someone will turn that reasoning on me! Why not turn it on yourself. In order to have an open mind which is necessary to judge facts you must look at the facts first and then weigh them in an impartial way. You refuse to do this assuming your knowledge superior so why bother to verify it. Thomas Paine, Einstein, and multitudes of other great men other than Jefferson have stated they do not believe the bible to be truth. They do not buy the Jesus myth. Have you ever considered that those renown men may have searched and found enough evidence to lead to their decisions? I have pointed out the depicted immoral, pornagraphic, murderous, inhumane actions of God's chosen and the unfairness of God rewarding evil and killing or raping of the innocent. Your religion promotes separation of people rather than unity. It causes wars to people defending freedoms. It taxes me unfairly into supporting a cause I despise while they accumulate wealth tax-free. Your ignorance and bias is yours and others do not care to share it. Believe what you will. I'll continue to attack your truth for the lie it is and I sure have facts where you have tradition and one book that was cause of the dark ages.
