This is a sample I how I try to "nickel and dime" the market: With some explanations at the end: Today sold: 1 Cpq Dec 32 1/2 bgt Dec 3 at 1 1/2, sold at 4 7/8 1 Rmbs Dec 85 bgt Dec 1 at 6, sold at 15 1/8 2 Dell Jan 35 bgt Mar 16 at 5 1/5 sold at 33 1/2 1 Intc Jan 90 bgt Sept 11 at 4 sold at 33 1/8 1 Dell 2000 35 bgt Apr 11 at 9 sold at 38 1/4 1 Mspg Dec 60 bgt Nov 23 at 4 1/2, sold at 5 1/2 1 Mrk Jan 135 bgt June 5 at 5 sold at 22 1/2 1 Plcm Jan 15 bgt Oct 21 at 1 7/8 sold at 6 Tried to sell 3 Dell Dec 70 (cost @ $1)at 1 7/8, missed by 1/8 pt Bought Cpq April 42 1/2 at 5 This is not all gravy, as I had to eat some Hboc, eggs, and Omkt's which have gone way down so have not been sold. Everyone has their own way of dealing with these options and most have a lot more experience.Whatever is working good should be kept working.My point here is that it is not nescessary to buy a whole raft of the same ones,the same expirations,or even in the same company to make money. Dell is the only company I really trust or count on long term but numerous companies discussed here can come close. I do not yet trust CPQ but it should be OK at least a week or more, so took a bit of minor profit and bought a later call. I sold the Mrk after comparing its long term performance with Mu and other techs. Mrk is OK and more stable but other techs have more potential growth. I am not totally "out" of any of these stocks(i.e. I have other calls on them like the MRK Jan 140's) All this can be misleading as the market is up substantially so am trying to take advantage of it by locking in some profits clearing up margin,and rolling out some calls at higher strikes. They will be mostly Dell leaps. Sig
