THQ Launches Multimillion-Dollar
Marketing Campaign for 'Rugrats:
Search for Reptar' Developed Exclusively for PlayStation
Game Console

CALABASAS, Calif.--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--Dec. 3, 1998--THQ Inc.
(NASDAQ/NM:THQI - news) Thursday announced its multimillion-dollar marketing campaign to
support the release of one of the first PlayStation games created especially for kids ages 7 to 12,
''Rugrats: Search For Reptar.''

Developed exclusively for the PlayStation game console, THQ, in partnership with Sony Computer
Entertainment America (SCEA), is promoting the title, which launched last week, through national
television and print advertising, major promotional tie-ins and the World Wide Web.

'''Rugrats: Search for Reptar' is the perfect game to launch this holiday season,'' said Germaine
Gioia, vice president, marketing, THQ. ''Combining a quality PlayStation game developed just for
kids, based on the hottest children's television show, with the major motion picture release of 'The
Rugrats Movie,' and a multimillion-dollar advertising campaign, makes 'Rugrats: Search for Reptar'
the PlayStation product to own this Christmas.''

THQ's ''Rugrats: Search for Reptar,'' based on Nickelodeon's No.1-rated, award-winning
children's television show, is being backed by a multimillion-dollar national television advertising
campaign. The 30-second commercials, running from Nov. 23 to Dec. 27, 1998, are airing on the
following cable and national networks: Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Fox Family, Fox, CBS,
NBC, WB and UPN.

THQ's print advertising campaign, targeting major children's and select gaming publications, began
running in October 1998 issues and will continue through January 1999 issues. Delivering an
estimated 20 million impressions, the advertisements are featured in Nickelodeon Magazine, Disney
Adventures, Rugrats Comic Adventures, The Rugrats Mini-Movie Magazine, Boy's Life, Contact
Kids, GamePro and GameWEEK.

THQ and SCEA are including ''Rugrats: Search for Reptar'' demos on PlayStation hardware
pack-in discs, screen shots on all new PlayStation hardware packaging and game demos on Official
PlayStation Magazine pack-in discs. Furthermore, kiosks at both the Nickelodeon Theme Park in
Orlando, Fla., and the Rugrats live-action theatrical show traveling across the United States are
showing the game.

THQ and SCEA are also featuring ''Rugrats: Search for Reptar'' in nationwide promotions
throughout the holiday season in Sony's Point-of-Purchase holiday brochure, which contains all of
the biggest PlayStation titles for the season; in kiosks built-in to 48- and 68-foot PlayStation trucks,
which travel to college campuses and special events; and during a cross-country PlayStation mall
tour.

Additionally, THQ has partnered with Farley's, the manufacturer of Rugrats Fruit Snacks, which is
featuring the game on 7 million of its boxes and sponsoring an Instant Win game promotion and
Blockbuster, which is featuring the game on the packaging of its Rugrats PlayPak cassette tapes,
which are distributed to consumers who rent children's videos during the months of November and
December 1998.

World Wide Web exposure includes an eight-month promotional contest and giveaway on both the
Nickelodeon and ''The Rugrats Movie'' sites which began in October 1998 and will continue
through June 1999.

THQ develops, publishes and distributes interactive entertainment software worldwide for a variety
of hardware platforms including PC CD-ROM and those manufactured by Nintendo and Sony. The
THQ Web site is located at www.thq.com.
