Yikes. OK; well then, see what you think of this. Last night I was casually trying to think of an expression to characterize how weird a particular person was, and I said: "Crazy like standing around at a party waiting for the girls to pull your pants down."

I was shocked. Now where do you think something like that comes from?

We had a death in the family yesterday.

When Spouse was freshly married and living out of the palatial pavilions of our grad student housing - her work threw a Christmas party. There was a drawing for a TV, which was way cool because at the time all we had was my 12" B&W set (which had a nasty hum and shimmy from three unplanned gravity-induced trips onto the linoleum. Cord, I guess). well,
she
won.
Nineteen inches, and *color*. Fat city. We've had it until last night, when (after twelve years of faithful service) (and a sudden, brief illness) it expired. After a brief negotiation (during which time my duties as Domestic Provider were clarified) I was induced to violate a budget compartment and make a quick trip to the local Good Guys.
Now I am here, banging at the keys and hearing the last stirrings of the sleepbound Helenator. And Spouse's new 27" Sony flat screen has pride of place in the entertainment rack. It's being lovingly broken in on the newly remastered episodes of Star Trek. Tonight's is a bit of a weezer - the one where Kirk is trapped in a planetside nut farm.
