O.K. my second and only post...to my knowledge, not my experience, there are no rules...despite our quasi-socialist government impressions, when it comes to Bay Street it is pretty much wide open.

Not to change the discussion but it seems to me that the U.S. is light years ahead of our disjointed securities commissions (and you haven't touched short trading yet). I believe we are working towards a national standard but I am sure that the issue of short trading is one that everyone wishes to avoid and consequently is not part of the discussion.

I think this is sad and tragic as I think this is the achilles heel of the investing future...thanks for asking...

Tell me about American rules for shorting.? The only thing I really know, and I admit my ignorance, is that Nasdaq does not permit stop loss orders
