The success of the Internet will determine the success of the net stocks. What fuels these stocks is the undeniable power of the net. People who use it understand this. But people like you and smart investor and Rob S that seem to take it as a personal affront that these stocks are running ahead of themselves. Some of them will bust and some will boom. I don't know exactly which ones, but I would rather buy from someone I know, AMZN or YHOO. Name familiarity cultivates a sense of safety. A bunch of money is going to be made by these companies. I believe it will be far more than anyone imagines over the next ten years and will more than justify the valuations of the net companies.

I agree. I read an article in yesterday's Investor's Daily. It was mentioned that Mr. Greenspan said that the current market is like the 1930's. The implication is that we are in danger of a big crash.
He hoped that it will not lead to depression as happened at that time. In another article, George Soros mentioned that the world is still in financial crisis, and he thinks the market is too high and in danger of crashing. When this does happen, I think the Net stocks will get slaughtered.
