My (limited) understanding of JINI (pronounced like "I Dream of") is the next wave programming language from SUN Microsystems that's envisioned as the driving force behind smart cards, smart appliances, etc. In theory, pretty much everything with a plug would be tied together to your family's or business's "Super Network". A daunting challenge, but one that's probably attainable, if that's what consumers want...
