I think your position is a legitimate one and I sympathize with it.
I had the same position a few weeks ago, but now I have softened having decided that maybe I don't know enough yet. Don't take that the wrong way, I repeat your position has validity. I'm probably the odd one on this.
Anyway, here is a point for you to consider (and me too). If a dividend is announced for shares held on a certain date, when does it have to be paid? Is there some rule or law that governs? This really addresses both scenarios I outlined:
1] BNEZ paid the dividend to the TA and things are screwed up. Has some rule or law been broken?
2] BNEZ has announced the dividend, but decided not to pay it yet. Does such action break a rule or law?
Just food for thought.
Anyway, I'm tired of this issue and wish it would go away.
