He was being sued for sexual HARASSMENT. He perjured himself a dozen ways in court proceedings on a HARASSMENT charge. Ask a feminist, harassment IS NOT sex. Hey Bill, What you don't see, and what you and other Republicans will never see (much to the detriment of the GOP), is that the public can discern a difference between lying to cover up a secret slush fund or a break-in into your enemies' offices or lying to cover up a bribe or an illegal arms deal, and lying in the course of fending off what many perceive as a series of politically motivated legal assaults by 'sworn political enemies. Hence the attempts, fairly successful IMO, to draw ties between the Starr investigation and the Paula Jones lawyers. What you don't realize is that Clinton and the media have successfully made a comic caricature of the Clinton-haters, and placed that caricature smack behind the podium of the Judiciary Committee hearing room. That is why there will never be enough public outrage to legitimately impeach the president. That is why it will be so politically expensive if the Republicans go ahead with this whole thing. The public, correctly or not, perceives the impeachment as a crusade on the part of a bunch of Clinton-hating zealots in the GOP. Come campaign time 2000, the GOP will have made it that much easier for the Democrats to argue that, yes, there are some good people in the GOP, but look who's running the show: Tom DeLay? Bob Barr? All this impeachment will do is give ammunition to the Gore 2000 campaign, much to the detriment of the George W. Bush's and Pete Wilson's of the GOP. Kind regards, Borzou
