<a sad day when we no longer look up to the office of the Presidency>

When in college we did the same thing to Nixon.

And I remember my oldest brother used to make jokes about Ike in the 50's.

The more things change the more they stay the same.

I notice the Republicans are taking credit for Clinton's popularity vis a vie the economy. Yet in the 80's if a Democrat said that the economy then was as much their credit as Reagan's they would have been horsewhipped.

*OT* >>Wonder what that says about the American people?<<

The modern public views the presidency not as a sacred office, but as a media production. Clinton is just like any popular actor with a messy private life. In the public's mind, the vendetta against Clinton is the equivalent of Burt Reynolds trying to bolster his own image by digging up dirt on Charlie Sheen.

This is just an observation. I'm not making a value judgement.
