It's absurd to think that the GOP is willing to commit political suicide...

It is not. Fanatics don't really exercise their brains when they are pursuing a cause that they hold dear (like, in this instance, getting rid of Clinton, outlawing abortion etc. etc.).

<< Mild understatement. It's absurd to think that the GOP is willing to commit political suicide ( in your opinion ) just so Al Gore can appoint some Supreme Court Judges. >>

Do you really think that the GOP is thinking that far ahead?

Besides that, the GOP is also attacking Gore for his fund raising activities.

If Clinton gets impeached, the next target is Gore. You are witnessing the new politics of using all means available to attack the Executive Branch of government, if it's a different party than Congress.

It would be interesting to see what happens with a Democratic Majority in Congress in 2001 and George W. Bush in the WH. I don't think that the Democrats would want to get even for the GOP attack, but one never knows.

I wonder if anyone is doing a background check on George W. Bush to see if their are any skeletons in his closet? It's my understanding that he is somewhat reluctant to run for President under the current hostile environment.

It is a shame. George W. Bush has done an exceptional job in Texas and would probably make a good President.

It's absurd to think that the GOP is willing to commit political suicide ( in your opinion ) just so Al Gore can appoint some Supreme Court Judges.

Politics based on visceral hatred and vengeance is always irrational and can be viewed as absurd. Some in the GOP hate Clinton with a passion that is rabid. He's a piece of white trash from Arkansas who stole the presidency from two good men, they seem to believe. At least Albert Gore, a member of one of the wealthiest and most politically connected families in America, comes from good breedin'.
