Hi Dan,
<<To me this says what it says. If a Gentile like myself can be grafted in as wild as I am, how easy it is for the "natural" branches to come to the Lord. But IMO they have to come in belief, not just because they were branches. >>
My dear Dan this has never in my mind been a question. The points I have been trying to make is that without humility and love for them how will they come to belief. Part of the responsibility of the Gentiles is to provoke them to jealousy and I do not see that in most of what I read from Emile and some others. Romans 11 says their ACCEPTANCE will bring life from the dead. The accpetance of Jesus has to occur as it surely will.
What do you think it means to be highminded to the root?
There is so much focus in the CHurch about eternal life that the focus on a personal relationship has gotten lost. Israel is loosing that personal relationship with their Messiah and that is very sad to me eternal life is totally Gods concern and decision and Jesus told us to condemn not and you will not be condemned so I stay away from discussing the eternal condition of anyone. SO what God will do with the Jew is not my concern I am only to give the Good News that they can enter the Holy of Holies thru the blood sacrifice of the Messiah and have a personal relationship with God and one of the rewards is eternal life. Can you see what I am saying? It is a shift in the focus because people today do not believe in life after death but they do desire to have a relationship with God. Time Magazine did an article last year on prayer in AMerica and the percentage of people that still pray was like over 80% so IMO all people still want to know God they just neeed to see the truth in us to lead them to Jesus. I and I am sure DOnald is the same witness to every person that comes into my path with respect and love (try to I should say). However, for Paul sake and the Apostles I pray for the peace of Jerusalem and am grateful for the weight they have carried to bring salvation to the world through their precious Messiah.
I would like to share a story (analogy) I heard this year at a Church that touched me and came close to what I feel concerning the plan of God.
In the Olympics a few years ago there was a runner that pulled a hamstring muscle and fell on the track crippled and unable to get up to finish the race. His father in the stands stood up with a tear in his eye as the other runners ran by and did not even notice the man on the ground wounded and unable to finish the race that he had trained for many years. The father began to walk down the bleachers to get to his wounded son and pick him up himself to carry him across the finish line. The crowds were overwhelmed by the love of his father and stood with great joy and appluase because his father had loved him so much to carry him himself over the finish line.
This is just an analogy but has some thought in it.
God is love even for Israel that has stumbled but I wait to see the end of the race. God has tremendous integrity and faithfullness to us all that are unworthy.
Lord bless you,
Nancy
