Dan,
If there is a hardening in part or a viel put on them by God (Romans 11) then when it is removed the acceptance will happen that IMO is part of the mystery Paul was talking about). As a bottom line God will reveal Jesus to them as in Zechariah and they will mourn him bitterly as they accept him as their Lord and King. I do not understand what you are getting at basicaly God will decide what to do with all people with righteousness and truth so whatever we think does not matter very much. Ruth to me was a foreshadow of the Church and I like her statement, May their God be my God and their people be my people and she was the only Gentile to have a book written about her and was included in the lineage of the Messiah. I think their God welcomed her with open arms don't you? We are all doomed if God does not keep His promises:-0
Paul also says not to boast to the branches (Israel) for the root supports you not you the root. To tell Israel that the Church has taken all the promises from them when they have done nothing to accomplish it is shallow boasting. I prefer to say that God in his mercy has grafted in the Nations as He promised to Abraham.
May God be praised for His faithfullness and love that is unending,
Stay warm and watch for flooding;)
Nancy
