The story of lack of demand and therefore eco conditions in Asia is best shown in the CRB index. This is really worrisome and is part of the underlying account of the decreasing PPI.

Today, I saw 192.5 on CNBC so it's getting to new lows. A good deal of it has to do with crude prices but the part that is worrisome is the lack of demand for US grains. And for copper.

The ML economist, Bruce Steinberg, on CNBC says that the much discussed US savings rate (-2.0%) is an artifact that doesn't include capital gains. If this is included, the savings rate is 6%.
