John -
All that has to happen is for CPQ to get into the 60's and for DELL to be trading in the same range it is in now. Neither of those things is unrealistic. Let's try and put a dose of reality into the discussion. Do you think DELL will be at $400 any time soon?

I'm talking about real money, my money, nearly 40% of my portfolio, not some sports event. I don't intend to leave that money idle because I have my head in the sand. What happened over the last 5 years is not really of much use in determining what I should invest in going forward. I will be very surprised if DELL breaks out of the 70's in 1H99. I could see it hanging in the 65-75 range. Without a spectacular earnings announcement in February, it could even drift a little lower.

Do you actually care about return on your investments, or are you just blindly supporting DELL because it was good in the past? I would sell any of my holdings if I thought they would underperform. I would have sold CPQ last year if I had known where it was going to trade in '98. I don't intend to make the same mistake on my DELL holdings next year.
