I agree. Something is afoot. Volume is an indicator. Volume today is double or triple what it was a couple months ago. So, what's up? I think it is more than renewed confidence in management. More than the reduction in uncertainty about the company's focus and commitment. But both of those are positives, in my view. Surely it has something to do with Adaptec's association with Dell. Something to do with the apparent move of Ultra2 SCSI into the mainstream helped by the reductions in price. Something to do with the success of Adaptec's software products. It may have to do with an improved outlook for SCSI's future in general, especially with the emergence of the 160M Ultra3 SCSI on the horizon. All these would contribute to better earnings, which, after all, is the bottom line.

One wag on another thread predicted a major announcement in the next couple of weeks on the magnitude of the Dell deal and perhaps larger. Be careful of rumors. But he's been right on a couple of things. It isn't rumor that is creating the volume and steady rise in price.

These are just my views. I'm long enough in the company. Won't be buying more just yet. I remember 54.
