'It Doesn't Pay to Be Rational'

"The only place there's a mania is in the Amazon.com-type stuff," said
Robin Griffiths, chief technical analyst at HSBC James Capel. "When things
move 160% in a day, you can't be rational about that. They're excessively
volatile, but nonetheless the trend is up. They're growing rapidly from a
small base. I'm not an expert, but I suspect I'd buy them on any dip. It
doesn't pay to be rational."

Rationality may not work in the Internet sector, but "in the real world,
we're going to get more earnings downgrades," Griffiths said.
