>>>This will be the end of the Republican party<<<

NOT! If the Republican party survived the idiotic impeachment of Andrew Johnson they will survive the current impeachment too. Having once, tried to impeach their own.

"Just how to go about the mending was what led to Johnson's epic clash with the so-called Radical Republicans, who preferred much harsher treatment of the rebels than did the president. The culmination was impeachment -- a constitutional showdown between two branches of government.

It was a matter of substantially more heft than whether the president told an alleged mistress to tell a fib.

That Johnson was even in a position to be impeached is a credit to his drive. Born in Raleigh, N.C., Johnson moved to Greeneville, Tenn., before he was 20 and established himself a tailor. He never attended school but still managed an incredible run up the political ranks -- from alderman to mayor to state representative to U.S. senator to governor.

Johnson, like many others in mountainous East Tennessee, where rich slave-holders were relatively few, ardently believed in the Union. Lincoln, looking for a way to reconcile the country, tapped the Tennessean as his running mate in 1864."

The GOP never wanted this thing thrust upon them. They are only enforcing the inevitable consequences of laws (broadly defined sexual harassment, indep counsel statute) that Clinton and Democrats passed but thought would never come back to haunt them.

When Frankenstein kills, I feel least pity when it kills its creator. Don't blame the cop, blame the law. If Clinton were GOP he'd already be gone.

Re: "This will be the end of the Republican party, and it gets what it deserves."

Interesting comment. Do you see a one-party system or the advent of a replacement party?

Best wishes,

I2

as a republican, I find Mr. Barr a true patriot. He stands for right and wrong... Clinton stands for adultery, lying under oath, lying to a grand jury. Yes, you are standing up for the right person. Your are a shining beacon for what you stand for.....keep it up....

Most recent surveys have shown 50-50 split if people would be angry enough to vote against member of Congress who voted their conscience to impeach.
