P.S. ORCL is trading at about 29 times expected 1999 calendar year earnings while PSFT is at about 24 times. Given the slow growth database business and the large consulting business in ORCL, does that make any sense at all?

Yeah but I think Oracle is hitting Sap for those numbers. I just dont know how successful psft is in claiming the Sap-casualty accounts. For example, both Applied Materials and Dell chose Oracle apps after failing with Sap. For a long time Oracle had better classic mfg than psft but I think that has changed.

I dont think psft is going to move for a while, irrespective of this orcl news. I think orcl went up based on some new engine technologies they have and the perceived msft/doj troubles. Just a gut feel. I still like psft as a company though.
