I suppose I was startled by the strength of the usual suspects, which carried the averages up on Friday. The underlying weakness has been emerging for a few days, and that led me to raise cash throughout last week. Basically I've exited all narrow term positions in advance of what promises to be a messy period.
As far as Washington is concerned, I share your feelings about what the future holds for the putsch artists. But that's politics and this is investing. Looking at the markets, this right-wing hurrah is potentially a disaster. I have to say, I never thought it would get to this point, and now that it has, the mischief factor increases geometrically every new step of the way. Imagine the impact here if and when the full house votes an article of impeachment. It's chilling. And a trial in the senate, with the fate of the government hanging, is a nightmare thought. A lot rides on so-called moderate Republicans.
