Here's what happened to me at Schwab:
11/30/98 Placed order to sell EGGS at market at the open on the web, got confirmation within 3-5 minutes, volume was 27 million that day.
12/8/98 placed order to sell at market EGGS at 0933 also on the web, no confirmation for 20 min. Stock was 21 1/2 when order was placed. Volume that day 74K shares only. Called an hour later and was told that confirmation came late, at 0955, but that order was executed immediately and I had a "good fill", no explanation why no confirmation for 20 minutes. Trade executed by Schwab's own market maker! Needless to say, got filled at 20 3/4, close to day low!
Anybody else with similar problem?

Usually I would tend to agree with the lion's share of your post.

But you know I actually PAY MONEY to read TheCramer. And he straightened me right out.

The MM's are all real nice guys. Cramer knows this because his kids go to the same day care as a couple of MM's kids.

It is us little guys who profit and/or attempt to profit by trading stocks that are to blame.

At first I disagreed with TheCramer, but it hurt his feelings, so he must be right.

bwahahaha

WRONG!

In all seriousness, all you folks that have taken a beating recently, just take the hint and discontinue doing business with your, SO CALLED, BROKER.

The Industry would prefer if you discontinued trading such volatile names; wherefore, you could be screwed much more gently and the constant screwing could hopefully go un-noticed by the majority of little guys.

If you are an "investor" then, these brokers may be good 'nuff.

If you are "trading", if you are posting horror stories to this thread:

LEAVE YOUR BROKER! YESTERDAY!!! Do not continue.

Regardless, of what the newspapers say, or don't say:

YOU CAN BEAT THE MARKET.

I am an IDIOT and yet I am doing fine fine fine.

Easy? No. Possible? Yes, I am living proof.

(sure tomorrow I may go completely nutso and blow up my account)

Just read Jack Schwager's two Market Wizard books.

amazon.com

You can beat the averages.

However, you must have the right tools.

The brokers you guys are using are completely inappropriate.

The industry wants you to think its you that is out of wack.
Not true!
You just need to get the right tools for the job.

Do you take the case off your computer with a carpenter's saw and a claw hammer?
NO, you use a screwdriver.
Ok then, get yourself away from these brokers and get your self a real one.

REFUSE TO BE SCREWED!

Your losses are Nature's way of telling you something is WRONG!

Well guess what, The Wall Street Journal, and The Boston Globe and The Street Dot Com are full of crap when they say that little guys day trading are wrong and wreaking havoc on the market.

They are telling you a LIE!!! LIE!!! LIE!!!

Little guys daytrading are absolutely the most AMERICAN thing that is happening today.

If you believe you have the ability, nerve, and even a wee bit of good fortune to trade and win ...

IT IS YOUR CIVIC DUTY TO TRADE ! ! !

Now stop crying, get your hands on the right tools, and go to work.

Funky's disclaimer :

If you are unsure, please ignore this post, trading can and will be very painful at times. Not a good career for the unconvinced.
