RE: Yosemite

Many of both the news and rumor Mac sites have given details on the Yosemite, but they probably should be taken with a grain of salt until we actually see the machine unveiled. What we do know is that Yosemite is the replacement to the current desktop/minitower "pro" G3 line, aimed at higher-end users.

Some probable details on the machine:

New design plastics, innovative like iMac but different from it.

Processor speeds running in the 333-400 mhz range (G3 without AltiVec, the MMX-like graphics acceleration that will be included eventually, but probably not until the G4).

Higher bus speeds: 83 or 100 mhz

USB and Firewire ports

Ultra DMA hard-drives (fast but much cheaper than Ultra2SCSI products)

MacCentral claims that the model will also include the new Rage128 GL chip as standard--graphics acceleration that would be much better than that offered in current Macs (Rage Pro)
