Poet went to the store before I got your post. Bought the Electronic Day Trader for a start. Also bought Fortune, Forbes, and Business Week magazines. Are there any other magazines I should be reading to get an overview of markets and trends? Or Should I be just watching the business reports on T.V.? Probably both. I will pick up the books you mentioned later this week. Can someone explain what position trading is? Thanks Melinda

Had to throw in my two cents worth about TA books. "The Electronic Day Trader" was disappointing to me. Very poorly written and confusing for the neophyte, I thought. "The New Science of Technical Analysis" also very obscure, arcane, and not at all useful for beginners. The classic work on technical analysis is Edwards and Magee's "Technical Analysis of Stock Trends," originally published in 1948, but still the basis of most books about TA. Much of the book is a bit outdated, but the concepts are the basis of many modern books about technical analysis. If you read this book, you'll already know what's contained in many subsequent books about technical analysis. This book covers the basics of support, resistance, gaps, and many other critical TA concepts. Plus, it is very well written. I think it's in its 7th edition, although if you pick up an earlier edition used somewhere I don't think you'll find much has changed. Not a cheap book, but worth it, in my opinion. Good luck all!
